Links to Chretien in Non-tendered Building Sale
Kathy Tomlinson of CTV’s ‘Whistleblower’ confronted Public Works Minister Scott Brison about a non-tendered sale of the Skyline Complex owned by Andre Desmarais, Jean Chretien’s son-in-law.
The aging building was bought for $91 million from Desmarais with another $82 million that had to be pumped into it before it’s inhabitable. The building was found to have black toxic mould – Stachybotrys - that could endanger the health of the employees and cause considerable repairs in the future
The Government was warned that it could have mould problems before it was bought in March 2003, but that didn’t seem to bother Public Works.
Unnamed real estate consultants – unnamed because they do business with the government and may face retribution – say that a new building could have been built to spec for less than the cost that is being flooded into this one.
When confronted on air by CTV’s Kathy Tomlinson the look on Brison's face was priceless. He couldn’t stop blinking and stuttering when asked why Public Works was still buying older buildings that was against their publicly stated policy.
Brison stated: 'The fact is we buy buildings on an ongoing basis and we evaluate them in terms of best possible value for the taxpayer.'
No mention about the non-tendered transaction with connections to Chretien was addressed.

Normal... the scams and scandals continue...
hohum....same old same old. And apparently 90% of Ontario and Quebec like it that way. We can only pray.
Ummmmmmmm...easy there HR...we are doing something here...some of us are trying to convince the people to vote CPC Federally and SPA in the next provincial election. Have the CPC kick the Libs out in Canada, and then Alberta can go our way, because the CPC is still to much of a centralist party, and AB will get screwed again.
The reason I keep mentioning Kebec is they are not concerned about the ROC, just themselves. I think you will find most separatists in AB still love Canada, but we are sick and tired of supporting a country that could care less for us unless their hand is in our pocket. And we can only assume that it is not only the politicos who feel this way,but the general population, because they keep putting them back in. BTW...I'm originally from N.B. Believe me,I know what a basket case, welfare dependent state the Atlantic provinces are. And I say Atlantic to include the Newfs, although they do seem to be waking up a bit and growing some balls back out on the rock.
Uh... HR ... we tried for 100 years to be part of this country, to work with the feds, to do the right thing. Were tired of being rapped, everytime the feds need money, were tired of having no voice, were just plain tired, and the rest of ROC can go to hell, for all we care. Were sick and tired of the bullshit, and just want out of this nutbag country.
Rest assured HR...when I bash Ontario, it is NOT the one's who have minds and use them, like you. As ABF said, every time we turn around, we are getting sideswiped. Well next time we are going to be doing the sideswiping, and it ain't going to be pretty. What has amazed me for so long is how can so much stupidity be concentrated in one area i.e. the GTA. At our legal recourse here is to boot King Ralphie next election.Lately the guy has been starting to make Jacko look good, and that ain't good.
On the brighter side, we had 28 here today...oh wait...that's in farenheit...damm
oooo...28 farenheit? damn...I'm glad I'm not there, we still have leaves on the trees!
GTO (sigh)...I think many Ontarians feel that T.O is self centered and it is...just look at Northern Ontario - Kashechewan -The north is probably sitting on tonnes of oil that isn't tapped or something else of value but the dolts in both levels aren't expanding on it
Maybe we need your expertise here JT?
bty...when are you gonna tell me some of those great military stories?
