Finding Love in All the Right Places

Angry in the Great White North was at it again even on a long holiday weekend. He was snooping into the federal party donations database. We're gonna have to keep him from doing that because someone might actually pay attention and get the PMO into trouble with the ethics counselor or something.

Not that the PM can get into trouble mind you, Martin that is. He's above the law as long as he doesn't get caught with the improper wording or communication and then, he's above the law. Apparently he is above the Constitution too, but that was a little too obvious for us to believe, so we fluffed it off and went on barbecuing.

You know? I was thinking, it's nice to have friends in high places. Really high places. Really really high places to help them get to where they are going.

It also helps if those friends have money to burn like those donations from Magna Inc., which include donations to Paul Martin's Campaign (compliments of AGWN):

1) Magna International - $55, 000 (total of 3 donations)
2) Intier (Magna subsidiary) - $15,000
3) Decoma (Magna subsidiary) - $5000;
4) Tesma (Magna subsidiary) - $15,000;
5) Cosmos (Magna subsidiary) - $1000

Who is Magna you say? Why that's the company that Belinda Stronach was president of. It goes to show that women can and do get involved in politics. (side note: I wonder how many donations and in what amounts were from the C.A.W or from its members?)

Then that got me wondering what type of government appointment I could buy for .25 cents? Which is about all I've got left for the next two weeks until payday. . . ("Wait a minute"...I say to myself, "what payday?" "Your a starving artist that has too much imagination or intuition or skepticism who likes reading law books and dictionaires" I says to myself. "You know, your one of those types of artists, the kind nobody likes because they attempt to effect social changes" I say. "You have freedom! You don't have to live your life by any one's leave! " . . . Um huh? yeah, whatever...)

You remember David Peterson? That third party go-between to help deal, negotiate and influence the office appointment of Belinda Stronach, former President of Magna?

Well, he is also a partner at GPC Public Affairs, you know, that "strategic communications, government relations and opinion research company" who has a "powerful team for the benefit of our clients" who employ privileged, "eminent Canadians including former corporate leaders, premiers, cabinet ministers, senior bureaucrats, political advisors, and media executive".

Well if you want some historical blog archives about bias of this pollster pick here.

Warm Fuzzy note. When I was young, gorgeous AND enthusiastic, I met David Peterson at a Liberal convention in Windsor. I was really surprised that he had the stature of a horse jockey. Funny, I could have sworn he looked larger than life on television. It was kind of a disappointment, you know like those times when as a kid you bought one of those surprise bags for $1 and all you got was a mojo and a green plastic whistle?

Re: Belinda Stronach/Magna/Liberals -

I do find the fact that Belinda's Dad through Magna was the largest single contributor to Paul Martin's leadership campaign while at the same time he was fronting his own daughter to lead the Opposition Party.

One might be led to think that there are corporate powers who would like to manipulate both major parties. All it would have taken is for Stephen Harper to have been open to bribery and unethical conduct and comprimise.

No wonder the corporate/comprimised media powers behind the scenes, plus Sinclair Stevens et al want to "Dump Harper"
Do you think that Harper and an ethical unified opposition party are perceived as obstacles to the grander scheme?

I think it's also interesting that Magna's racetrack businesses have lost $200 million in the past two years, according to a report I picked up (it's on my blog... what's better is I know the reporter and he's trustworthy -- and a sports reporter to boot). Maybe Magna needs The Honorable B.S. to steer dinero in its direction???

Anon,

Every person I've talked to so far have written off every political party as corrupt and they probably are to an extent even the Conservatives.

I blame the electorate themselves for allowing it to happen and not exerting their voice. The reason? They find it too emotionally overwhelming. They get so depressed and angry when trying to wrap their minds around it, then they avoid it all together instead of thinking about it.

It's amazing how little tolerance Canadians have for things they feel powerless to change. This is nothing less than oppression.

When it comes to "ethics", that is a hard sell. I think Harper should attempt to achieve an ethical platform, but has to tell Canadians how the party will accomplish this.

(First thing Harper needs to do is allow the criminal lawyers and the accountants within his party go over the Kroll report thoroughly. You'll see how deep the corruption has gone within various departments to fund the sponsorship scandal including money funnelled for public opinion research.)

There are reasons, or motives behind the Liberals disregarding the Constitution and ignoring the first non-Confidence vote to buy themselves time to negotiate the offices in exchange for votes.

I can only speculate what it is. The strongest idea that comes to mind is that the Liberals are not there to run the country as elected officials of the people. It comes across to me that the Canadian corporations are running the show to maintain power over decisions that may affect them.

The second is that the Liberals may fear that Harper WILL do something to show Canadians that justice will be served with respect to their corruption. They are afraid of getting convicted?

That's me trying to be rational.

I say this because of Buzz Hargrove threatening Layton with removal of support if he didn't agree with Martin on the budget. We were witness to Layton selling his integrity.

Within the CAW world, it is pretty well known that the union has become a bureaucracy just like any other.

Magna is an autoparts manufacture and figures into the equation as well as other corporations.

I think it is pretty well known in the political community that Canadians can be members of all three parties at one time, effecting the policy decisions. So individuals within CAW membership can have their say 3x for example and I know a few who have done it.

I've spoken to someone within the Conservative party about this because it happens within their party too. It's pretty common and difficult to control.

So, the Conservatives are not the Omnipotent. They are human just like everyone else, they just have better ideas to manage money, which they need to tap into and get Canadians to understand. They also need an ethics platform because I'm pretty sure they haven't been able to shed their "evil" brand. They just need to focus on political morality if they believe they have more than the Liberal Party...

Bob, what is the race track business called? can you provide the link to your blog archive for this so others who lite here can surf?

The CAW is the union for Casino Windsor. I don't know what union represents Magna employees.

What makes me think of this is that FBI site I posted on organized crime and the other one called "NDP Not Far From Liberal Tree' in my archives. Unions, Casinos, history of organized crime etc... such interesting stuff huh?
