Attacked Afghani Singer Dies After Vancouver Concert

CTV News has report on Afghani singer dying after giving a concert in Vancouver.

The report is sparse, so it leaves open speculation on why the singer was attacked. I am wondering if Islamic militants sympathetic to the Taliban in Afghanistan were involved. Extreme views of the Islamic Sunnah, Wahabist interpretation for example, forbids singing and the use of musical instruments, unless it's the duff (a small hand-held drum) and the voice only. Women are forbidden to sing in public or around men.
