Ugly Kids Get Jipped on Parental Love...(In Alberta)

The New York Times 'ugly kid' article cites a study compiled by researchers at the University of Alberta by using grocery stores as their laboratory and observing how mums treat their "ugly" kids compared to "pretty" kids. Tell me these researchers have never shopped in a grocery store with kids?
I know Canada has no national mental health care strategy, but if this is what the UofA comes up with, no wonder our hospitals have the most psychiatric beds per capita in the world.
